The neighborhood of Chartwell on Severn is centrally located in Anne Arundel County, MD, about 10 miles north of Annapolis, MD, the sailing boat capital of the United States and the capital of Maryland. The community of Chartwell on Severn is within the town of Severna Park, MD, where the public school district includes the nationally recognized and newly renovated public schools - Benfield Elementary School, Severna Park Middle School, and Severna Park High School. AA County is responsible for snow removal from the streets, street repairs, and trash removal, including recycling trash and greens removal at the curb from containers. The Chartwell Community Association (CCA) serves the purpose of maintenance, beautification and improvement of common areas; maintenance of recreational equipment and facilities; operation of a community security program; and the administrative expenses necessary to carry out these purposes.

The community of Chartwell on Severn is located with the Severna Park School District which includes the nationally recognized and newly renovated public schools - Benfield Elementary School, Severna Park Middle School, and Severna Park High School.
Benfield Elementary School is located withing walking distance to most homes in Chartwell.
Serving grades K-5, the school was a Maryland Blue School Ribbon winner in 1995-96. In 2015, Benfield Elementary completed a renovation that included the modernization of the existing 42,234-SF single-story school. The new addition will house large functions like the gymnasium, cafetorium, and before/after care as well as specialized instruction spaces like art, science, music and the kindergarten classrooms. The project involved demolition of approximately 3,918-SF of the existing building and modernization of the remaining 38,918-SF.
In addition to Benfield Elementary School, the public school district for the Chartwell neighborhood also includes Severna Park Middle School and the Severna Park High School.
Severna Park High School is currently going through a state of the art, $134.1 million dollar renovation. The cost of new stadiums and playing areas are included in that budget, with the building set to open in early 2017 and fields slated for completion in 2018. Chartwell Golf and Country Club, Saint Andrews Swim and Tennis and Kinder Farm Park
Residents of Chartwell on Severn have access to many recreational activities offered through two private clubs as well as a county owned park.
Chartwell Golf & Country Club was founded in 1961 and is one of the finest country clubs in the Mid-Atlantic region. Chartwell Golf & Country Club is a full service country club that provides the finest in sports facilities (golf, tennis and swim) and food and beverage service (member dining and social events and banquets).
Membership at Chartwell Golf and Country Club is offered at three tiers to invited prospects, with each higher tier having the same access as the lower tiers.
St. Andrew's Swim & Tennis Club (SASTC) is located within the neighborhood of Chartwell. There is never a wait list to join for new members living within Chartwell, and you may join at any time once registration is open for each summer season.
Members of SASTC have full use of not only the swimming pool facilities; but also have access to their four competition ready tennis courts (usually open year round, weather permitting); and a spacious clubhouse which is often used for all sorts of social functions throughout the year. Members may also rent the use of the clubhouse for private parties at a very reasonable rate. Aside from swim team, SASTC also offers competitive dive and tennis teams that are open to children of all members.
Throughout the season, there are activities and social functions put on by the board of directors for the whole family; such as, movie nights, teen socials and family fun days.
Located within a mile of Chartwell, Kinder Farm Park is a 288-acre park that offers a variety of natural and recreational activities including walking, biking, bird watching, fishing and picnicking. Picnic tables and grills for picnicking are located throughout the park. There are two large pavilions available for rental by large groups. Kinder Farm Park has a large playground and tot-lot ideal for children of all ages. The park has a 2.8 mile paved perimeter trail and several miles of natural trails.
